A blood test is a medical examination in which a small amount of blood is taken from a vein to analyze various substances in the blood. In the context of traffic checks and the Medical-psychological examination (MPU) the blood sample is often used to determine Blood alcohol concentration (BAC) or to determine the presence of drugs in the body. A blood sample can also be used to detect long-term alcohol or drug consumption by analyzing certain biomarkers in the blood. A blood sample is an invasive method and must be performed by qualified medical personnel. The results of a blood sample are considered admissible in court and can lead to the imposition of penalties or the ordering of measures such as an MPU.
