Have you received a negative MPU report?

If the driver's license office MPU This is absolutely terrible news for most applicants. After all, an MPU costs not only time but also money. MPU costs are very high. It gets even worse if you receive a negative MPU report and have invested time and money for nothing.

However, this does not necessarily mean that you will not get your driving license back. Because with the right MPU consulting It's very likely that you'll receive a positive MPU result on your second attempt. In our article, we'll explain the most common reasons for a negative MPU result and how to ensure a positive MPU result on your next attempt.

Reasons for a negative MPU report

When applying for a new driver's license, the driver's license office may request a medically tested driving test (MPU) report. If you fail the MPU and receive a negative MPU report, your application will generally not be approved.

If the MPU is negative, there can be various reasons for this:

Only in the rarest of cases does an MPU office determine that an applicant is physically unfit to drive. Especially when it comes to a Drug MPU or Alcohol MPU When it comes to abstinence, a lack of proof of abstinence often results in a negative report. In many cases, those affected are not even aware that Proof of abstinence are required for a positive MPU. Find out in advance. However, in many cases, an alcohol MPU can actually be passed without proof of abstinence (see also controlled alcohol consumption).

Most often, however, a negative MPU result is issued because the psychological assessor determines, during a personal exploratory interview with the applicant, that they are not yet fit to participate in motorized road traffic. In most cases, this is because the applicant has insufficiently or superficially addressed the background and causes of their traffic offenses. Furthermore, many individuals are unable to convincingly and plausibly explain how they have changed their own behaviors and thought patterns. Sometimes the MPU result is negative despite preparation. In these cases, a detailed analysis is required to determine which aspects have not been adequately addressed.

Do not submit your negative report to the authorities!

You are not obligated to submit your negative MPU (Medical-Psychological Assessment) report to the relevant authority. While the driver's license offices require you to submit an MPU report within a specified timeframe to make a decision regarding your fitness to drive, we recommend that you do not submit a negative report to the authorities. If you mentioned or said something during your MPU that the assessors shouldn't know about during your next assessment, withholding your report will prevent your statements from becoming part of your official record. Ideally, you should withdraw your application for a new license without providing any further explanation. Of course, you can also inform the authority that you failed your MPU. However, you are not required to disclose a negative MPU result. Important: Please do not submit the negative report!

Did you fail your MPU? Here's what happens next.

Receiving a negative MPU report from a medical-psychological examination is frustrating and annoying. However, that doesn't mean you won't get your driver's license back. After all, you can always apply for a second MPU report. However, to achieve this, thorough MPU preparation is necessary.

By the way: MPU preparation doesn't just help with the questions and the interview with the assessor. No, the assessor will also consider it very positive that you have participated in such preparation, as reputable providers are officially recognized by the MPU bodies. MPU preparation with an experienced provider therefore guarantees maximum chances of success at the next MPU.
