Psychologist Gunnar and online expert Yoni met in 2013 at the Social Impact Lab, a meeting place for sustainable start-ups, and conversations over lunch breaks led them to the idea of founding MPU-Akademie. Gunnar's professional experience in psychology, traffic psychology and as a former MPU assessor at TÜV Hessen, combined with Yoni's online and digital expertise, identified significant flaws in the existing MPU system. They made it their mission to address these flaws with MPU-Akademie and to individualise, simplify and optimise preparation for the MPU. Gunnar and Yoni put two main aspects in the foreground:
First, as an MPU assessor at TÜV, Gunnar repeatedly noticed that many of his colleagues stoically followed the same standard routine without addressing the individual background of the candidates in preparation for the MPU (drug use, running red lights, etc.) – which regularly led to participants failing the MPU. Recognising the person with their individual offences, putting them at the centre and preparing them individually for the MPU is an unshakeable pillar of MPU-Akademie.
The second main aspect was accessibility. Especially in rural areas, access to professional MPU counselling is very limited, particularly when no means of transport is available. Nowadays mobility cannot be done without, and thanks to its online concept MPU-Akademie gives all participants the chance of personal and competent preparation – completely independent of location. The participants' other personal circumstances, professional and private, are also fully taken into account in MPU preparation by scheduling and tailoring sessions to them.
These innovative aspects of MPU-Akademie were received and accepted very positively by participants. The enormous individuality and flexibility, guaranteed at fair prices by MPU-Akademie's unique concept, has not only brought great satisfaction to the academy's participants but has also made MPU-Akademie a success.
